Teaching Science vs. Doing Science
I wrote about the differences between teaching science and teaching engineering before and how engineering is what you typically find in today's "science" games but this excellent editorial has brought the subject back to the forefront. The fact is the physical education analogy is perfect; not only for illustrating what is potentially going on in classrooms, but for illustrating what is going on in games and sims that explore scientific concepts.

We have a simple question for all the teachers out there in our community: what's the most frustrating thing about teaching science? What do you wish you could do but have trouble accomplishing in your classroom or with your students?
We have been hard at work at something particularly special and are ready to announce it: some new games have been added to our Game Arcade that have a history with us! Cell Saver is a story-based biology game aimed at the learning about the cell and Nucleus Challenge is one review module that can be played to practice and study information and skills acquired in Cell Saver. The reason these games are special to us is that they are updated versions of the prototype that won us the grant to start the whole ClearLab project and now they are playable right in your browser!
